Articling
Articling at Sullivan Festeryga LLP provides students with the varied legal experience
of a large firm as well as the “small firm feel”. Our lawyers practice in a wide
range of areas of law and our students are encouraged to explore each of those.
Sullivan Festeryga LLP specializes in the area of civil litigation, primarily insurance
defence litigation. We also have lawyers practicing criminal, family, corporate/commercial,
estates, real estate, immigration, administrative and other types of law. Our students
are given first-hand experience and encouraged to attend trials and other court
proceedings, mediations and discoveries. They have the opportunity to attend tribunal
proceedings, learn how to incorporate a business, follow real estate transactions
and complete many other tasks. Our students participate directly in the legal process
by having carriage of Small Claims files from the beginning to either settlement
or running the trial. In this way, our students are able to develop their individual
legal skills and interests.
Open door policy
Sullivan Festeryga LLP has an “open door policy”. We encourage our students to ask
questions and to take advantage of the knowledge and experience of our lawyers.
The size of our firm allows us to get to know our students well on both a personal
and a professional level.
The city
Hamilton is an exciting city in which to practice law. Our students discover this
through the working and learning components of articling as well as through community
involvement. Our students become members of the Hamilton Law Association, the Medical-Legal
Society and the Hamilton Lawyers Club. They are encouraged to participate in seminars
and social occasions with these excellent organizations.
We are looking for diverse, well-rounded candidates with enthusiasm for learning
about the law and developing a career in Hamilton.
How to apply
Candidates can submit their resumes and cover letters to Joe Fitzpatrick by mail
or

in accordance with the Law Society of Upper Canada procedures governing recruitment
